about

Written for all those who lost so much as a result of Hurricane Sandy in 2012 on the East Coast

lyrics

The sun closed its eyes, blackened the skies. The winds came and brought down the rains. We headed for the high ground but some stayed behind, and the braced themselves till it came. The sirens stayed on till the power went down, then we lost all sight of the day. And the water was rising and stealing the ground, till it took everything in its way.

The storm finally passed and we tried to head back, but the streets where we lived were erased. And scattered were the memories of moments in time, that the waters and sands reclaimed. The sun closed its eyes and brought down the skies, and we'd never again be the same. We headed for the high ground but some stayed behind, and they lost themselves in the waves.
